We are proud to support City Gates Academy based in Coron, Philippines
City Gates Academy is a Christian charity that concentrates on providing educational programmes to the poorest children living in several different areas across the Philippines.
Their primary aim is to make a difference to the lives of poor children and their families by providing quality education enabling them to make better life choices and become productive members of society and escape from poverty. City Gates Academy is committed to lifelong learning and takes opportunities to not only educate the children but also provide opportunities for the parents to continue to learn. Seminars and opportunities for development are also given to parents throughout the year as they believe in a holistic approach to helping those in need, not just focusing on the child but the whole family.
City Gates Academy also partner with local government public schools and other national organisations to provide moral, values and ethics lessons to more than 450 secondary school students in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
Statistically over one third of the children in Manila will fail to complete their primary school education. With large class sizes, and limited resources many children are forced to drop out of school as they are unable to keep up academically or financially. Their aim is give children the best start in order that they may succeed in school and have more chance to complete higher or further education.
