Our History

Founded in 1967 through an evangelistic campaign with Evangelist Alex Tee. Over the past 50 years ECN has continued to commit to reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

We are a family church of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. Our aim is to be a church that is friendly,  relevant, life giving and God centred.

Elim church Northampton and it’s vision is based on *sentences from the Bible... “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.” (Luke 4:18-19)

Elim Church Northampton exists to reach people with the love of God and to help bring them into a personal relationship with Him, helping them to find freedom from the past, restoration in the present, and hope and purpose for the future.

3 important elements

  1. Devotion to God

  2. Development of people

  3. Demonstration of kindness

Devotion to God

Our first priority is to honour God with all of our lives (He is our first priority). This is called worship.

*A sentence from the Bible... “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering” (Romans 12:1)

Development of people

We desire  to see people grow in their relationship with God, developing Christ like character and seeing them flourish in their God given gifts and talents. This is what we call discipleship. *A sentence from the Bible... “Why is it that he gives us these special abilities to do certain things best? It is that God’s people will be equipped to do better work for him, building up the Church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity” until finally we all believe alike about our salvation and about our Savior, God’s Son, and all become full-grown in the Lord”. (Ephesians 4:12)

Demonstration of kindness

Not only did Jesus share his compassion, kindness and love to the poor, marginalised and those in need. He also demonstrated to the religious and the rich. We believe that this good news should be shared and demonstrated to all. This is called evangelism (which literally means good news). *A sentence from the Bible... “In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change”. (Romans 2:4)
